McDonald’s has announced the introduction of a $5 Meal Deal as part of its US summer promotional offers. The new offers aim to provide value to customers who are reducing their fast-food expenditure.

The deal includes a choice of a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries, a four-piece Chicken McNuggets and a small soft drink.

The offer will be available from 25 June 2024 for a limited period at participating restaurants in the US.

The fast-food giant is also launching a “Free Fries Friday” promotion, exclusive to the McDonald’s app.

The deal allows customers to receive a free medium portion of fries with any purchase of at least $1 every Friday until the end of 2024.

To celebrate National French Fry Day on 13 July, McDonald’s will offer free fries of any size with no purchase necessary, both in-store and via the app.

McDonald’s franchisees across the US are joining in the summer festivities by providing local deals at neighbourhood McDonald’s locations.

The offers will vary, reflecting the independence of McDonald’s franchisees in setting their own prices.

Examples of such local promotions include “Buy One Get One for $1” breakfast sandwiches in Memphis, Tennessee, and a $3.50 Double Cheeseburger and small fries deal in Columbus, Ohio.

In western New York, customers will be offered a mix-and-match McChicken and McDouble deal for $3.99, while locations in Cincinnati and Columbus have a large frozen carbonated beverage for $1.79.

The deals are part of a broader strategy to engage customers with seasonal offers.

McDonald’s is also engaging customers to download its app, which features the MyMcDonald’s Rewards programme.

The programme will allow customers to earn 100 points for every $1 spent. Points can be accumulated and redeemed for free menu items such as a McChicken sandwich or a Happy Meal.

McDonald’s USA president Joe Erlinger said: “We heard our fans loud and clear – they’re looking for even more great value from us, and this summer that’s exactly what they’ll get.

“Value has always been part of our DNA. We’re focused on living up to that legacy and offering delicious, affordable options customers can enjoy any time they walk through our doors, go through our drive-through or place an order through our app.”
