Zeki, a new bistro and bar specialising in modern European and Mediterranean cuisine, has opened in Mumbai in the Indian state of Maharashtra, as reported by The Economic Times.
The 60-seater venue reflects actor-turned-entrepreneur Khushank Arora’s ambition to create a dining experience.
Embracing the Turkish meaning of its name – “intelligent” and “wise”, Zeki aims to be a community-centric establishment where patrons can gather and feel at home.
Arora said: “Zeki’s core belief lies in the natural instinct of bees – which is to gather around flowers, savour nectar and belong to their community. […] We invite patrons to disconnect from the hustle and bustle […] and reconnect […]with themselves.”
Curated by chef consultant Vidit Aren, the food menu at Zeki is executed by brand chef Debanshu Mondal and adopts a “less is more” approach.
The menu highlights seasonal, locally sourced ingredients prepared using traditional roasting and grilling methods. The establishment creates all its ferments, sauces and dips in-house, and uses high-protein, roller-milled flour sourced from Abohar, Punjab, for its flatbreads and pizzas.
The menu includes options with as Truffle Mushroom Bianca with mushrooms, bechamel sauce, ricotta, and garlic confit, Za’atar pistachio and ricotta manakish, and Pepperoni and Roast Chicken Puttanesca.
The bar offers a selection of ten carefully crafted cocktails, including homemade infusions and techniques such as clarification and fat-washing.
It also features Baklava, a Middle Eastern pastry made with clarified pistachio milk.
