Air services provider dnata has closed the purchase of New York-based 121 Inflight Catering for an undisclosed amount.
Set up in 2007, 121 Inflight Catering provides premium catering services to commercial airlines and private jets from its facilities at New York JFK and Nashville International Airport.
In addition to the flight catering facilities, the purchase also includes two separate restaurants.
It employs more than 350 culinary professionals and serves 21 international airlines, as well as several hundreds of private aviation customers.
dnata’s catering division divisional senior vice-president Robin Padgett said: “We are excited to expand our operations in the United States, the world’s largest aviation market.
“The 121 team has the right combination of extensive experience and deep market knowledge, which will support our ambitious growth plans in North America, while maintaining the customer-first approach we’re known for.

Though 121’s flight catering operations will be rebranded to dnata, it will continue to operate under its existing management team.

“Leveraging the strengths and synergies provided by our partnership, we look forward to offering an even more outstanding value proposition in the market. We are sure our stakeholders will benefit from this cooperation.”
During the past year, dnata has invested in expanding its global catering network. It recently opened a catering facility in Dublin, Ireland, and acquired Qantas Airways’ catering division in Australia.
It is also in the final stages of completing its new facility in Vancouver, Canada. This will be the firm’s first catering facility in Canada when it opens in 2019.
Operating from 62 locations in 11 countries, dnata’s catering team produces over 320,000 meals every day.
