Chinese-Macanese hotpot brand The Dolar Shop is set to open its US flagship Store at 55 3rd Avenue in New York City this week.
Founded in 2004, the Shanghai-based chain is known for providing its diners with individual hot pots while other restaurants offer large shared pots.
The new location will offer Shrimp Pâté, one of the brand’s popular dishes.
The Dolar Shop’s house-made broths are prepared with a ‘massive amount of quality ingredients’, including a variety of seafood.
Its Silver Broth, for example, uses 100lb of ingredients to yield the same amount of liquid.
According to the brand, it only sources steakhouse-quality meat from the US and Japan, and its suppliers include American Wagyu, USDA Prime Beef, and A5 Japanese Miyazaki beef.

By GlobalDataThe Dolar Shop East Village location general manager Jay Zhao said: “Normally, winter is the peak season for hot pot since it’s warm in nature and it brings people together during the holidays. This year is a bit different because of Covid-19.
“To make sure people can still enjoy hot pot safely, we will open at 25% indoor capacity that allows for 45 guests to sit comfortably far away from each other, provide heated outdoor seating, as well as deliver to anywhere below 34th Street in Manhattan so people can enjoy hot pot in the comfort of their own homes.”
In addition to the East Village restaurant, the hotpot chain is planning to open two additional units in Manhattan neighbourhoods such as Chelsea and Midtown as part of the brand’s next stage of expansion.
The brand also plans to open 10 to 15 additional stores in the US in the next five years.
The chain currently has 55 locations across the world, including in Sydney, Vancouver, Seattle, and New York.
