The global food service industry noticed a 6.4% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 over the previous month, led by The University of Texas at Austin Division of Housing and Food Service’s 47.51% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The food service industry’s overall hiring activity increased 2.28% when compared with October 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 0.22% share of the global food service industry’s hiring activity in November 2021, up 0.03% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of November 2021 were 16.61% higher when compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 68.7% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 48.42% emerged as the top IT occupation in the food service hiring activity in November 2021, a 67.19% growth over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in second with a share of 15.38% in November 2021, up 112.5% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 13.57% share in November 2021, a growth of 25% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 12.22% share in November 2021 and a flat growth over October 2021.
Top five food service companies by recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 428.13% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global food service industry during November 2021 over October 2021.
The University of Texas at Austin Division of Housing and Food Service posted 105 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Starbucks with 21 jobs and a 61.54% growth. McDonald’s with 19 IT jobs and Domino’s Pizza Group with 12 jobs, recorded a 216.67% growth and a 300% rise, respectively, while Compass Group recorded a 20% rise with 12 job postings during November 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in food service industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global food service IT hiring activity in November 2021 with an 88.24% share, which marked a 61.16% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 9.05%, registering a 25% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 2.26% share and a 44.44% drop over October 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 0.45% and a month-on-month flat growth.
