The global food service industry noticed a 15.7% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 over the previous month, led by Bloomin’ Brands 21.19% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The food service industry’s overall hiring activity declined 2.99% when compared with July 2022.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 0.73% share of the global food service industry’s hiring activity in August 2022, down 0.11% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of August 2022 were 30.16% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 49.54% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 33.94% emerged as the top IT occupation in the food service hiring activity in August 2022, a 47.03% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 29.8% in August 2022, up 1.69% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a 24.83% share in August 2022, a decline of 1.96% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 7.78% share in August 2022 and a drop of 20.34% over July 2022.
Top five food service companies by recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 42.88% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global food service industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Bloomin’ Brands posted 128 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 63.53% over the previous month, followed by Aimbridge Hospitality with 71 jobs and a 29% decline. DoorDash with 55 IT jobs and HelloFresh with 44 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 35.29% drop, respectively, while AmRest Holdings recorded a 44.87% drop with 43 job postings during August 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in food service industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global food service IT hiring activity in August 2022 with a 75% share, which marked a 23.61% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 13.58%, registering a 24.77% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 7.95% share and a 7.69% drop over July 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 2.98% and a month-on-month drop of 61.7%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.5%, registering a 76.92% decrease over the previous month.
