The global food service industry noticed a 2.1% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 over the previous month, led by AmRest Holdings 22.96% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The food service industry’s overall hiring activity declined 1.67% when compared with September 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 0.68% share of the global food service industry’s hiring activity in October 2022, down 0.09% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of October 2022 were 10.02% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 27.32% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 36.11% emerged as the top IT occupation in the food service hiring activity in October 2022, a 10.55% decline over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in second with a share of 34.44% in October 2022, up 12.73% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer Support Specialists with a 10.74% share in October 2022, a growth of 56.76% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 9.26% share in October 2022 and a drop of 89.94% over September 2022.
Top five food service companies by recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 8.86% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global food service industry during October 2022 over September 2022.
AmRest Holdings posted 124 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 3.88% over the previous month, followed by Delivery Hero with 97 jobs and a 90.2% growth. Aimbridge Hospitality with 74 IT jobs and Starbucks with 25 jobs, recorded a 3.9% decline and a 10.71% drop, respectively, while HelloFresh recorded a 22.58% drop with 24 job postings during October 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in food service industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global food service IT hiring activity in October 2022 with a 50.56% share, which marked a 63.36% drop over the previous month.
Asia-Pacific stood next with 21.67%, registering a 27.17% month-on-month growth. Europe was the third leading region with a 21.48% share and a 3.57% rise over September 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 4.81% and a month-on-month rise of 188.89%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.48%, registering a 68% decrease over the previous month.
