Domino’s Pizza is set to launch more than 800 custom-branded Chevy Bolt Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the US.
Initially, more than 100 Chevy Bolt EVs will arrive at certain US franchise and company stores this month. An additional 700 vehicles will be introduced in the coming months.
Once all the EVs are in service, Domino’s Pizza is expected to become the largest electric pizza delivery fleet in the US.
The company selected EVs for its fleet as they offer several advantages, such as zero tailpipe emissions, advanced safety features, better battery life, and lower average maintenance costs compared to nonelectric vehicles.
It also noted that having a fleet of EVs will provide more opportunities to attract drivers who do not have their own cars for delivery.
Domino’s CEO Russell Weiner said: “Domino’s launched pizza delivery in 1960 with a Volkswagen Beetle, rolled out the DXP – a custom-built pizza delivery vehicle – in 2015, tested autonomous pizza delivery with cars and robots, and is now leading the charge in the future of pizza delivery.
