US-based fast food restaurant chain KFC has opened its flagship store in Tel Aviv, Israel, after its re-entry into the country around three years ago,

According to The Times of Israel, the restaurant chain launched and shut its outlets in Israel in the 1980s and 1990s, then kept them open from 2003 to 2012.

KFC returned to the Israeli market for the fourth time in 2020 through an outlet in Nazareth, the brand’s first branch in the region.

All previously opened restaurants were operated by local franchises.

The publication also noted that, in earlier instances, KFC made changes to its recipe to abide by Jewish dietary laws, resulting in the final product becoming more costly.

The new Tel Aviv venue is the 17th location of the brand in the country. In the future, the restaurant chain plans to further expand its footprint in the region.
