Doughnut company and coffeehouse chain Krispy Kreme is in talks with McDonald’s to further expand their partnership in the US, according to reports by CNBC.
The two restaurant brands started their partnership in October 2022, with McDonald’s agreeing to sell three Krispy Kreme doughnuts at nine restaurants in Louisville, Kentucky and the surrounding areas on a small-scale test.
The three doughnuts that McDonald’s agreed to are the original glazed doughnut, the chocolate iced sprinkles doughnut and the raspberry-filled doughnut.
At the time, Krispy Kreme said: “This is our first partnership with McDonald’s in the US as we constantly look for new ways to increase access to fresh doughnuts through our delivered fresh daily network – a key element of our omnichannel strategy to attain 50,000 points of access globally.”
It added that the doughnuts will be available all day, in-restaurant, as well as at the drive-through at participating test locations while supplies last.
In March this year, the pilot was expanded to 160 locations across Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky.
