Fast-food chain operator the Sphera Franchise Group has expanded its footprint in Romania by inaugurating a new KFC outlet in Sibiu.
This marks the fourth KFC establishment in the city and the first investment of the brand in 2024, amounting to €1m ($1.08m).
Located at 39 Calea Surii Mari in Sibiu, the new store is named KFC DT Prima Shopping.
Spanning 350m², the outlet offers seating for 64 guests inside and an additional 32 on the terrace, and operates 24/7.
Its design mirrors current trends in the quick-service restaurant industry and features digital menus and self-service kiosks that streamline the ordering experience.
KFC Romania general manager Marian Gogu said: “We begin the year with the inauguration of a new KFC drive-through unit in a city important to our national coverage strategy.

By GlobalData“It is a significant moment in our evolution and the history of the city, considering that the first KFC drive-through restaurant in Romania was opened right in Sibiu, in 2009. Since then, we have reached 29 units of this type, in cities around the country.”
Customers can also take advantage of a free refill system for soft drinks and the flexibility of multi-channel service options, including dining in, take-away, or ordering from their vehicles via the drive-through.
The new restaurant has created 50 new employment opportunities for the Sibiu community.
In December 2023, Sphera opened another KFC restaurant in Buzau, Romania, with an investment of €1.5m. This outlet also features a drive-through and is open 24 hours a day.
