Fourth, a software developer for the hospitality industry, has launched the Fourth AI platform, a set of AI-based workforce and inventory solutions tailored for the sector.
The platform is designed to enhance scheduling, labour spend optimisation and customer demand fulfilment.
The Fourth AI platform’s scheduling solution will leverage AI to deliver demand forecasts, recommend optimal shift patterns through auto-scheduling and utilise shift pooling to efficiently allocate available workers.
These insights will enable hospitality operators to make quicker, more informed decisions, balancing labour costs with customer service needs.
Hospitality companies including PizzaExpress, Wagamama, Stonegate and Cote are already using the new technology.
The platform will provide these businesses with a competitive edge by streamlining operations and improving service delivery.

By GlobalDataFourth CEO Clinton Anderson said: “The complexity of operating a restaurant or hotel has exploded, which has kept managers chained to their laptops instead of out on the floor with their guests and staff. The Fourth AI platform lets managers focus on people, service and creativity, rather than on constant firefighting.
“With our AI models trained on the industry’s largest dataset, we believe Fourth is uniquely positioned to embed AI across our customers’ entire restaurant operations.”
From 2024 Fourth’s inventory products will also incorporate AI forecasting to further refine purchasing, preparation and stock management processes.
These enhancements include real-time insights, advanced forecasting algorithms, back-office automation and above-store insights for both scheduling and Inventory solutions.
The technology aims to minimise manual efforts in ordering and inventory management, thereby reducing both costs and food waste.
