US fast-casual restaurant platform company Craveworthy Brands has expanded its brand portfolio with the acquisition of the Sigri Indian BBQ restaurant brand.

Financial details of the transaction have not been made public.

Sigri Indian BBQ, founded by Jagat Parikh and featuring the culinary expertise of chef Aarthi Sampath, operates in Newark and North Brunswick.

The brand is known for its diverse menu that includes a selection of prepared meats, vegetables and freshly baked naan, available in bowls or Kothi rolls.

Parikh said: “Craveworthy Brands is introducing a new and exciting chapter to Sigri. Gregg [Majewski, Craveworthy’s founder and CEO] has been an inspiration to me, having collaborated with him for over six years.

“When I first founded the brand in 2015, my vision was to introduce fresh and authentic Indian flavours in the US, starting with New Jersey.

“Our brand is not only unique in concept but also in our wide range of diverse, customisable and handcrafted menu items created by the renowned chef Aarthi. Now, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce Sigri to new markets and guests.”

Craveworthy plans to implement its established operating procedures, marketing strategies and financial processes to enhance Sigri’s operations.

It aims to elevate Sigri’s presence on a national scale through a strategic franchise growth plan.

Gregg Majewski said: “With a growing appetite for high-quality ethnic concepts like Indian barbecue, we see remarkable potential for Sigri’s expansion throughout the country.

“Sigri’s authenticity and innovative service model truly marks the brand as a pioneer in this fast-casual category.

“Embedding the Craveworthy team along with our systems and processes into the concept will fuel a new era for Sigri. It’s undoubtedly a growth concept that truly complements the brands in our portfolio.”

In January 2024, Craveworthy acquired a majority interest in Dirty Dough, a Utah-based cookie chain, for an undisclosed sum.

With 55 locations, ten food trucks, more than 40 shops under development and 450 franchises sold as of January 2024, Dirty Dough will now be the largest brand within Craveworthy’s portfolio.
