McDonald’s UK has introduced an anime-themed Happy Meal featuring Yu-Gi-Oh! X and Hello Kitty toys, available from 8 May to 18 June 2024.
The new offering is part of the company’s strategy to diversify its children’s menu options and provide a fresh experience to its patrons.
The new Happy Meal will feature a collection of ten unique Yu-Gi-Oh! X and Hello Kitty and Friends toys.
Through this limited-time offering, the company aims to attract a wide audience, catering to the interests of both anime enthusiasts and collectors.
McDonald’s is also providing an alternative to the toys. Customers can opt instead for one of two educational books from the Little People Big Dreams series: “I Can Be an Awesome Performer” or “I Can Be a Curious Scientist.”
A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “In a year of celebrations with not one but three anniversaries (Hello Kitty and McDonald’s UK celebrate their 50th anniversaries whilst Yu-Gi-Oh! has its 25th card game anniversary), what better way to mark the occasion than with an exciting anime takeover?

In March 2024, McDonald’s UK updated its menu with seasonal offerings in anticipation of Easter.
The update saw the removal of nine items to make room for new Easter-themed treats.
The fast-food chain also revamped its beefburger recipe, marking a significant change after 50 years of serving the UK and Ireland markets.
All burger variants, including the Big Mac, the Quarter Pounder with cheese and the Classic Cheeseburger, have been enhanced to offer a new taste experience.
