Popmenu has unveiled advanced AI features aimed at bridging labour shortages and enhancing revenue opportunities for restaurant operators.
The enhanced AI capabilities are designed to streamline operations including marketing content creation and customer call management.
An April 2024 Popmenu study of 362 US restaurant operators showed that 39% of them had lost out on revenue potential because of labour shortages, while 60% were having trouble filling positions.
To combat these challenges, Popmenu has updated its AI-powered solutions, which will help operators navigate an increasingly competitive market.
The company has identified that 58% of restaurant operators find creating marketing content to be one of their most time-consuming tasks.
74% are open to using AI for this purpose, and 79% prefer editing over creating content from scratch.

By GlobalDataPopmenu’s AI Marketing now offers the ability to automatically generate a month’s worth of emails, texts and social posts tailored to each restaurant’s unique offerings and events.
This content can be easily approved, edited and scheduled by operators, reflecting the restaurant’s brand voice.
Popmenu has also begun providing AI marketing to multi-unit operators, allowing them to customise content for each location or concept.
In the coming months, the company plans to launch a new AI tool that will instantly compose marketing materials, including images, based on topics provided by operators.
42% of consumers have reported they would dine elsewhere if a restaurant fails to answer the phone.
To address this, Popmenu’s AI now answers calls 24/7 with custom greetings and responses. The service promotes specials and events, and provides links for orders and reservations.
New voice options and features have been added, including post-business hours staff connectivity and a numbers library for special inquiries such as catering.
Almost half of the restaurant operators wish for more time to track business results and strategise growth, with 57% interested in using AI for business performance analysis.
Popmenu’s ROI (return-on-investment) Overviews service is expanding its ROI dashboards to provide a more comprehensive view of business performance, including the revenue impact from website clicks leading to third-party reservations or orders.
This will equip operators with detailed insights to determine the effectiveness of their marketing activities and inform their future strategies.
Popmenu CEO and co-founder Brendan Sweeney said: “The restaurant market is more competitive than ever, and there is a noticeable difference in financial performance between restaurants who are consistently marketing and those who are not.
“The problem is many operators are short on time and resources. Around 40 percent don’t actively reach out to guests. We’ve invested in AI over the years to help restaurants not only automate marketing across digital channels but do it in a personalised way — and pinpoint what’s having the biggest impact on sales.
“It’s not just about giving them tools – it’s about giving them content and a playbook for growth that is based on billions of guest interactions.”
