US-based Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant brand CAVA has expanded its menu with the addition of Grilled Steak.

The new dish will be rolled out across all CAVA stores in the US.

The new offering is grass-fed, pasture-raised and seasoned with Mediterranean spices, including sun-dried tomato powder and smoky Aleppo pepper.

Grilled Steak can be added to any custom order and to the brand’s two new curated dishes: Steak Mezze Salad and Steak + Feta Pita.

Steak Mezze Salad is a light bowl featuring grilled steak with crumbled feta, roasted corn, tzatziki, red pepper hummus, pickled onions, arugula, baby spinach, garlic dressing and Greek vinaigrette.

Steak + Feta Pita offers a Mediterranean twist on a steak and cheese sandwich and contains Grilled Steak, Crazy Feta, feta, red pepper hummus, pickles, garlic dressing, Greek vinaigrette and romaine.

CAVA co-founder and chief concept officer Ted Xenohristos said: “Our Grilled Steak was two years in the making and, like everything on our menu, is rooted in our Mediterranean heritage and made with unique flavours and the highest-quality ingredients.

“We wanted to create something people can’t get anywhere else, that’s elevated, but also accessible to everyone.”

CAVA will continue to provide its Spicy Greens Bowl and Strawberry Citrus juice throughout the 2024 summer season (June to August).

CAVA co-founder and CEO Brett Schulman said: “With Grilled Steak, our exceptional culinary team has fulfilled guests’ desire for a beef option on the menu, done the Mediterranean way.

“We saw a great response to Grilled Steak in our market tests and expect our unique take on this beloved protein gives consumers yet another reason to visit CAVA and come back more often.”

In May 2024 CAVA opened its new food production and packaging facility at Verona in the state of Virginia.
