American fast-casual restaurant concept Shake Shack has appointed Stephanie Sentell as its new chief operations officer, effective from 1 July 2024.
Sentell brings more than two decades of experience to the fast-casual chain, known for its premium burgers and shakes.
In the new role at Shake Shack, Sentell will oversee the operations of all company-operated domestic locations and a workforce of more than 12,000.
Shake Shack CEO Rob Lynch said: “I have known Stephanie for more than ten years and she is one of the most dynamic and compassionate leaders that I have ever worked with.
“She brings a wealth of operational experience and has consistently improved margins and enhanced operational efficiencies across brands, channels, and formats, including drive-through, with a data-driven approach that will further improve and optimise the way we operate our Shacks.”
Holding the role of senior vice-president of company operations at Inspire Brands, Sentell previously managed operations for more than 1,100 Arby’s restaurants and led a team of 22,000 across the US.

Sentell’s background also includes significant time at Dairy Queen, where she served as the director of marketing and operated her own franchise.
In March 2024, Shake Shack appointed Rob Lynch as its new CEO and board member, effective from 20 May 2024.
Lynch succeeded Randy Garutti, whose departure was announced in December 2023.
Shake Shack, which has 530 locations worldwide, offers made-to-order food, including crispy chicken, Angus beef burgers and milkshakes.
