The Fat Duck, a three Michelin-star restaurant located in Bray, England, is set to commemorate its 30th anniversary with the launch of two exclusive tasting menus.

The establishment, which opened in 1995 under the leadership of chef Heston Blumenthal, gained acclaim for its innovative cooking, with dishes such as egg and bacon ice cream and mock turtle soup inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

The restaurant earned its first Michelin star in 1999, its second in 2002 and its third, elite-level star in 2004.

It is marking the milestone with “The Journey”, an 11-course tasting menu priced at £395 ($506), available from September 2024.

The celebratory offering will feature a revival of classic dishes including crab ice cream and quail jelly accompanied by truffle toast and oak moss.

“The Trip”, a condensed version of the tasting menu, will be available for £275 starting in September 2024. Despite premium pricing, these costs are comparable to what the Fat Duck charged for its signature tasting menu a decade ago in 2014, reported The Caterer.

The media outlet cited an email statement from the restaurant for its customers stating: “The Fat Duck is nearing its 30th birthday, which is a big deal for us.

“The chefs are inspired, the front-of-house is excited, and we want you to join us on a journey into Hestonland – a place full of exceptional cooking, extraordinary flavours and excitingly, deliciously different dishes from the foremost gastronomic magician.”

In January and February 2024, the Fat Duck introduced a temporary, more accessible £225 tasting menu.

Its meal prices range from £275 to £395 per person, inclusive of VAT for food only and with additional charges for drinks and extra services.
