Baskin-Robbins, under the umbrella of Inspire Brands, has announced the opening of its 1,000th store in India – a major milestone for the ice cream quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region.

The new store was inaugurated on 16 September 2024 in Andheri, Mumbai, in the presence of Inspire executives and franchisee Graviss Foods.

Inspire Brands president and international managing director Michael Haley expressed enthusiasm about the achievement, stating: “We’re thrilled to celebrate this momentous occasion of opening our 1,000th location in India and the SAARC region.

“Baskin-Robbins’ success here reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional and innovative experiences tailored to local palates. We’re proud to be a leader in the QSR space and excited to further expand our footprint in this market.”

Since its debut in India in 1993, Baskin-Robbins has enjoyed a successful partnership with Graviss Foods, the master franchisee for the brand in India and the SAARC region.

Baskin-Robbins’ growth trajectory in the country has been marked by continuous innovation and an ability to resonate with the tastes of Indian consumers.

Its strategic approach to the Indian market has involved the introduction of new flavours and store formats, and expansion into 290 cities including metropolitan areas, tourist destinations and emerging non-metro markets.

Commenting on the brand’s role in India’s economic growth, Graviss Foods managing director Vikram Seth said: “As India continues its march towards becoming one of the world’s leading economies, Baskin-Robbins is committed to being a part of this journey, contributing to the economy, creating jobs and delivering happiness to consumers through continuing innovation in our products and services.”

The opening of Baskin-Robbins’ 1,000th store in the country is an indication of its strategy of quality ingredients and offering a diverse range of flavours, which has been a driving force behind its expansion. To appeal to Indian consumers, it has launched localised flavours such as Gulab Jamun, Caramel Milkcake and Rabdi Jalebi.

The milestone follows the opening of Inspire Brands’ 10,000th international restaurant in Lelystad, the Netherlands, in March 2024, showcasing Baskin-Robbins’ parent company’s global reach across its foodservice brands.
