Indian online food delivery platform Swiggy has introduced the Swiggy Seal initiative across 650 cities to enhance the food quality standards and hygiene practices of its restaurant partners.

The initiative, which originated in Pune, will be expanded to other cities from November 2024, as reported by mint.

On the Swiggy app, restaurant menu pages will now feature a Swiggy Seal distinguishing partners who consistently provide hygienic and high-quality meals in superior packaging.

The company plans to utilise its base of seven million verified customers to collect reviews over six months, providing insights into restaurant performance.

This will ensure the delivery of well-cooked food in high-quality packaging. Swiggy will share customer feedback with its restaurant partners to help them enhance their service and practices.

Focus areas for the initiative include optimal cooking, contamination prevention and packaging quality.

In addition to customer reviews, Swiggy is collaborating with accredited agencies Equinox and Eurofins, recognised by the Food Safety Standards Authority of India, to offer professional hygiene audits and guidance as a service through the Swiggy Owner app.

It also plans to offer restaurant partners access to cleaning and pest control services through the app, and to host sessions for restaurants and their staff to highlight the significance of hygiene.

In October 2024, Swiggy launched Bolt, a ten-minute food delivery service targeting customers seeking quick-to-prepare meals from quick-service restaurants within a two-kilometre radius.
