Online reservations platform OpenTable has introduced a Seating Options restaurant management feature, enabling diners to reserve seats within restaurants, bars and outside areas.
The feature allows diners to search restaurants globally for various seating options and table types, while making reservations online and through mobile. It also increases restaurant availability during peak dining times.
OpenTable chief technology officer Joseph Essas said: “With Seating Options, diners have the flexibility and freedom to make each dining experience exactly what they desire, whether it’s an awesome scene by the bar or a quiet spot outdoors.
“It’s also a powerful tool for restaurants, who can now offer diners even more choice, while maximising every seat in the house.”
The restaurant management feature enables participating restaurants to categorise tables on their floor plan across various available options, including standard, high top and counter.
It also offers restaurants a chance to increase seats and the number of available reservations, in turn increasing profits.
