Starbucks, operated by Baristas del Caribe, has opened two new stores in Puerto Rico, increasing its footprint to 35 locations across the market.
One store is located at River Town Plaza Commercial Center and the other within the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in Hato Rey – a first for the company on the island.
Their launch signifies Starbucks’ ongoing commitment to job creation and economic development in Puerto Rico.
With an investment surpassing $3m, these establishments have generated 50 direct jobs and welcomed new partners to deliver the Starbucks experience.
The River Town Plaza store in Bayamón is positioned to cater to locals and visitors while the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital outlet offers a peaceful retreat for patients, families and healthcare staff.
Both will serve Starbucks’ signature handcrafted beverages and food items in spaces designed for comfort and socialising.

By GlobalDataStarbucks Puerto Rico general manager Idis Ortiz-López said: “We are thrilled to continue our expansion in Puerto Rico with the opening of our 34th and 35th stores. These new locations allow us to continue to remain an integral part of our communities’ daily lives, reinforcing our role as a Third Place, where people can connect, relax and feel welcome.
“We are especially proud to open our first store in a hospital, providing a conforming space for those at the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital who need it most.”
Starbucks has been operating in Puerto Rico for 20 years and continues to foster economic growth and engage in social initiatives.
Its latest openings are part of a broader reinvention strategy that includes technological enhancements such as advanced Mastrena 2.0 coffee machines.
In addition to technological upgrades, both stores participate in the Starbucks Grounds For Your Garden programme, providing customers with complimentary used coffee grounds for composting or as an eco-friendly fertiliser.
Upholding its tradition of community involvement, each location will collaborate with local organisations through volunteering and joint efforts.
In early December 2024, Starbucks Argentina, operated by Alsea, expanded its market presence with its first drive-through store which is located in Nordelta, in the city of Buenos Aires.
