Hagen has revealed a next-generation espresso bar in the heart of London’s Mayfair, World Coffee Portal has reported.
The design of the Mayfair store, which is a collaboration between Hagen founder Tim Schroeder and Munro, a Fitzrovia-based luxury hospitality design studio, draws inspiration from Denmark’s Tivoli amusement park.
The interior’s red, green and terracotta palette creates a warm and inviting mid-20th-century atmosphere.
The espresso bar’s layout, with limited seating, is centered around a circular zinc counter that highlights the baristas’ skills, reminiscent of high-end sushi restaurants and cocktail bars. This Scandinavian ambience is a key feature of the new concept.
In line with Hagen’s sustainability efforts, the Mayfair site includes a compact, low-emission electric Bellwether shop roaster for on-site roasting.
Hagen’s partnership with Bellwether began in December 2023, aiming to reduce the coffee group’s carbon footprint. A Bellwether Series 2 roaster is also in operation at Hagen’s Belgravia location.
