US-based Korean fried chicken brand Bonchon is seeking experienced hospitality entrepreneurs in the UK to become master franchisees and spearhead the brand’s national expansion.

Bonchon is seeking to bring its Korean comfort food to the UK market. This follows its second opening in Paris, with a third also on the way.

Founded in 2002 in Busan, South Korea, by Jinduk Seo, and established in New York City in 2006, Bonchon now operates more than 140 outlets in the US and 455 stores worldwide.

The brand also has a presence in Cambodia, France, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Bonchon’s menu features chicken handmade-to-order, double-fried and hand-brushed with signature South Korean sauces.

Alongside its chicken wings, drumsticks and boneless wings, the brand also offers a variety of Asian fusion dishes.

Its traditional sit-down restaurants provide a casual dining atmosphere. Almost half of its sales are now generated from take-out and delivery services.

The opportunity for UK entrepreneurs includes the potential to become the master franchisee for the entire UK or specific regions, with the option to sub-franchise after two years of operation.

Bonchon’s Korea-based team will support growth with assistance in design, marketing, branding, training, menu research and development, and operations.

The brand is set to exhibit at the International Franchise Show at ExCel London in April 2025 to facilitate its entry into the UK market.

Christie & Co, a specialist business property adviser, is collaborating with Bonchon on its UK expansion strategy.

 In July 2024, Bonchon introduced a new Korean-style chicken sandwich across its US locations.
