Fast-casual Mexican restaurant brand QDOBA has agreed to introduce 33 new franchise locations in the US.
The expansion increases QDOBA’s presence in traditional markets. The brand is also expediting non-traditional venues such as airports, universities and military bases.
The company’s development commitments now exceed 500.
QDOBA chief development officer Jeremy Vitaro stated: “QDOBA’s momentum continues to accelerate, driven by strong franchise partnerships and a commitment to quality.
“We’re excited to welcome new franchisees who bring industry expertise and a shared passion for bold flavours. As we surpass 500 development commitments, we’re re-inforcing our position as a premier fast-casual brand poised for long-term success.”
The expansion features franchise groups PFGS, Empire, Roaring Forks, Holy Guacamole and Dhote & Turner leading developments in key markets.
Multi-unit franchise owner PFGS plans to open 15 restaurants in the northeast of the US across Springfield, Massachusetts, and Hartford, Connecticut.
Its portfolio includes KFC and Dunkin’ locations. Former KFC US operations head Johnny Muhammad is now transitioning from corporate leadership to become a franchise owner.
Empire aims to develop 10 QDOBA locations in the greater Columbus, Ohio market. As franchisees of Subway, Dunkin’ and Wing Snobs, it manages 100 restaurants across several states.
The Midwest will also see expansion, with Roaring Forks planning three additional restaurants in Rockford, Illinois.
Holy Guacamole has signed to develop a new location in Jamestown, North Dakota, bringing its experience from Dairy Queen and Quiznos to the QDOBA brand.
In the Pacific Northwest, Dhote & Turner will develop four QDOBA locations, contributing to the brand’s expanding presence in the area.
Non-traditional growth for QDOBA includes the recent opening of a location in Terminal A at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport in New York by the Gideon Toal Management Group.
A partnership with Aladdin Campus Dining will see a new QDOBA location opening at Colorado State University-Pueblo in spring 20925 – the initial partnership between the two entities.
TIG, a franchisee group within QDOBA, has also expanded its reach with a second restaurant on the Rutgers University campus, adding to its portfolio of more than 30 restaurants.
In January 2025, QDOBA signed multiple franchise development agreements aimed at expanding its presence in key US markets during the year.
