Notably, COVID-19 was one of the most frequently referenced themes in Q2 2024, ranking highest in terms of mentions, ahead of sharing economy and ecommerce, according to GlobalData.
Of the top leading companies in the foodservice industry, Yum China had the greatest increase in references for COVID-19 in Q2 2024, compared with the previous quarter. GlobalData identified seven COVID-19-related sentences in the company's filings - 0.7% of all sentences - and a decrease of 56% in Q2 2024 compared with Q2 2023. Compass Group’s mentions of COVID-19 dropped by 77% to 5 and Darden Restaurants’s by 85% to 5 and Sodexo’s by 67% to 3 and DoorDash’s by 88% to 2.
