The global food service industry noticed a 7.5% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2022 over the previous month, led by Bloomin’ Brands 42.7% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The food service industry’s overall hiring activity increased 1.63% when compared with June 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 0.7% share of the global food service industry’s hiring activity in July 2022, up 0.01% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of July 2022 were 12.3% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 25.41% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 47.2% emerged as the top IT occupation in the food service hiring activity in July 2022, a 32.42% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 21.65% in July 2022, down 14.42% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a 19.34% share in July 2022, a growth of 22.31% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 7.18% share in July 2022 and a rise of 9.26% over June 2022.
Top five food service companies by recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 41.25% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global food service industry during July 2022 over June 2022.
Bloomin’ Brands posted 351 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 85.71% over the previous month, followed by Aimbridge Hospitality with 100 jobs and a 12.28% decline. AmRest Holdings with 78 IT jobs and HelloFresh with 68 jobs, recorded a 1.3% growth and a 74.36% rise, respectively, while Delivery Hero recorded a 29.55% rise with 57 job postings during July 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in food service industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global food service IT hiring activity in July 2022 with a 73.11% share, which marked an 11.09% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 13.26%, registering a 60.29% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 6.33% share and a 17.46% drop over June 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 5.72% and a month-on-month rise of 38.24%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.58%, registering a 27.78% decrease over the previous month.
