Gate Gourmet has signed an agreement to buy the operating assets and customer contracts of the SCK Sky Catering Kitchen Group of companies for an undisclosed amount.

Based in Stuttgart, Germany, SCK Sky Catering offers domestic and international catering services to airlines. It operates business from four locations, including Berlin Tegel, Berlin Schönefeld, Stuttgart and Nuremberg.

As part of the deal, Gate Gourmet will integrate SCK Services into its Germany business as a separate legal entity. Gate Gourmet is a subsidiary of Gategroup.

The company will also continue the existing team of SCK Services, currently working at the four German airports, to serve customers.

"This is a strategically important acquisition that will strengthen Gategroup’s operations in Germany."

Gategroup Americas, Europe and Middle East president Herman Anbeek said: “This is a strategically important acquisition that will strengthen Gategroup’s operations in Germany.

“SCK’s network largely complements Gategroup’s existing locations and will enable us to continue to operate an efficient, extended network for our key customers, especially Germany based charters and network airlines. We welcome the SCK staff joining our group.”

The transaction is subject to certain conditions such as anti-trust clearance.

Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, Gategroup offers airline catering, retail-on-board and hospitality products and services to customers.

The company currently serves more than 700 million passengers every year through its 200 operating units in 60 countries. It has approximately 43,000 employees globally.
