US-based foodservice company Aramark has been selected to serve as the new dining services partner at Salem State University in Massachusetts starting 1 June.
The selection of the foodservice firm follows a competitive request for proposals process and ‘careful consideration’, according to the company.

As part of the deal, Aramark will focus on offering new food options such as Panera Bread in its retail food court, cultural offerings, and expanded options for individuals with food allergies and other dietary restrictions.
The company will also operate Create Kitchen to offer cooking instructions to students enabling them to create meals themselves.
Salem State University finance and facilities vice-president Karen House said: “Salem State University sought a partner committed to carrying out our vision for a re-imagined dining experience on our campus.
“Our dining task force, along with campus leaders in finance and facilities and student life, were impressed with Aramark’s ability to offer high-quality foods, innovative concepts and an outstanding value.”

The company will offer commuter students with the same dining experience available for those living on campus through its commuter meal plans.
Aramark Higher Education Division president Jeff Gilliam said: “We are proud to partner with Salem State University to transform the campus dining experience for students, faculty and staff.
“There will be many enhancements made on campus for the fall semester and beyond.”
Earlier this month, the foodservice company won an on-campus dining services contract from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in the US.
