American fast-food restaurant chain Chick-fil-A has unveiled its plan to open 25 to 30 new restaurants in Michigan by the end of 2028.

The brand’s expansion plan is expected to generate more than 2,500 jobs across the state.

Since introducing its hospitality and cuisine to Michigan in 2015, Chick-fil-A has launched 28 restaurants there.

The expansion will see new establishments in areas such as Detroit/Ann Arbor. Outlets in Chesterfield Township, Roseville, Taylor and Fort Gratiot are set to open before the end of 2024.

Also targeted for developments are Auburn Hills, Canton, Clinton Township, Detroit, the First National Building, Lincoln Park and Orion Township.

Chick-fil-A plans outlets at Lansing and Jackson cities in 2025, as well as additional restaurants in Saginaw and Benton Harbor.

Its franchise model promotes local entrepreneurship, as most restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual.

Owner-operators are not passive investors but small business owners actively involved in the day-to-day operations.

They engage with local entities to support community needs through philanthropic efforts.

Chick-fil-A Midwest Region area director Scott Mayson said: “With a unique blend of rural, suburban and city neighbourhoods, Michigan is filled with tight-knit communities and proud residents.

“For nearly a decade, our passionate local owner-operators have been serving the Great Lakes region, where they are committed to attracting and developing top talent, delivering delicious food and our signature hospitality, and building meaningful relationships in their communities.”

In August 2024, Chick-fil-A introduced its inaugural high-rise drive-through restaurant, a new concept aimed at improving service efficiency.
