Chipotle Mexican Grill has opened its 2,500th restaurant at The Shops at Todos Santos in Concord, California.
Recently, the restaurant chain announced completion of its executive leadership team with the appointment of Roger Theodoredis as the company’s chief legal officer and Tabassum Zalotrawala as chief development officer.
With Chipotle continuing to open more restaurants, supporting local growers, improving the overall restaurant experience, Zalotrawala’s role as chief development officer will become increasingly essential.
Zalotrawala said: “The opening of Chipotle’s 2,500th restaurant is a milestone and a testament to our great growth trajectory. I feel lucky to have come on board during such an exciting time for the company and am thrilled to continue working with the team to develop new ideas that reinforce growth, increase access and convenience for our guests.”
In 2018, the restaurant chain expanded its delivery service through a partnership with DoorDash. It also launched direct delivery service via the Chipotle app and website.
Alongside delivering fresh food to customers, Chipotle has also implemented new ways to improve the restaurant experience such as drive-up pickup lanes, in-store pickup shelves, and tech-enabled second-make lines.
Currently, the drive-up pickup lanes are in the test phase and will be expanded to a few dozen new restaurants opening this year across several markets.
The in-store pickup shelves service is currently available in around 1,000 restaurants. Chipotle expects to implement them in all restaurants by mid-2019.
The tech-enabled second-make lines are currently available in almost 950 restaurants and the service will be expanded to almost all restaurants by the end of the year.
Recently, the company announced its plans to open 140 to 155 new restaurant locations this year.
