Chop Steakhouse & Bar is set to open a new location in Toronto’s Downtown area at 181 University Avenue in December 2024.

The establishment aims to re-establish the traditional steakhouse concept, offering dishes made with sustainable ingredients and 100% Canadian beef.

The 11,000ft, two-storey Chop Toronto Downtown can seat 430 guests and offers both intimate private dining rooms and a custom social lounge.

Chop Toronto Downtown owner Steve Tokos said: “This opening has been two years in the making, and a vision I’ve held for over 15 years since starting with Northland.

“It’s especially meaningful for Suhani and me, as bringing this project to life has been a remarkable challenge. However, we are confident that we’ll make a strong impression with the incredible team we have, and become a favourite destination for our downtown Toronto guests.”

The restaurant’s outdoor seating area and an interior bar on the upper level will provide views of the city skyline.

Toronto Downtown’s menu will introduce exclusive items.

The sharable Butcher’s Block will feature a selection of Chop’s finest cuts accompanied by seasonal steak sides.

Its offerings will also include the Sticky Toffee Sundae – layers of warm sticky toffee pudding sponge, vanilla gelato and whipped crème brûlée.

Moët & Chandon champagne will be offered by the glass, complementing freshly shucked oysters and other premium offerings.

Chop Steakhouse & Bar president and chief operating officer Dave Campbell said: “Our newest opening in Toronto, Downtown is an exciting milestone for our team, helping us to continue creating signature and memorable moments for our guests.

“For over 17 years, we have worked diligently to challenge the status quo of steakhouses with a menu that is designed to center flavour, quality ingredients and innovation. Our goal is to take a simple dining experience, elevate it and turn it into something truly special.”
