US quick-service chicken restaurant chain Church’s Texas Chicken and Texas Chicken plans to extend its global footprint by 900 new restaurants.

The company recently signed multiple development agreements to bolster its international presence, including a key partnership in Germany, with plans for units in the UK, France, Italy and Spain.

Church’s Texas Chicken has opened 60 new locations in 14 markets since April 2024.

Church’s Texas Chicken and Texas Chicken CEO Roland Gonzalez stated: “We are experiencing tremendous growth both domestically and internationally, with Europe playing a key role in our expansion strategy.

“The European QSR [quick-service restaurant] market is evolving rapidly, driven by a growing demand for convenience and quick-service options. We see huge potential to bring the Texas Chicken experience to new guests across the continent, and this is just the beginning.”

The latest agreements will introduce Texas Chicken into five new countries: Germany, Hungary, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Morocco.

The growth is part of a broader plan to increase the company’s international presence by more than 50%, with system sales of $2bn by 2028.

Church’s Texas Chicken international development vice-president Eric Hanson stated: “We have been strategic in our approach around entering new international markets, thoroughly assessing both the needs and benefits that Texas Chicken can provide to potential franchisees and guests.

“Through our research, we discovered an underserved segment of the marketplace that craves affordable, high-quality chicken. We are proud to fill that gap, offering exceptional taste and value in every meal while continuing to elevate our one-of-a-kind experience to more guests around the world.”

In addition to physical expansion, Church’s Texas Chicken is embracing technological innovation through a partnership with SoundHound AI.

Founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1952 by George W Church Sr, Church’s Texas Chicken, along with its sister brand Texas Chicken outside the US, specialises in original and spicy chicken freshly prepared throughout the day in small batches.

It has more than 1,400 locations in 22 countries and worldwide markets, with system-wide sales above $1.5bn.
