Cilantro Taco Grill has announced the opening of its first location outside of Chicagoland in Prosper, Texas, US.
It also plans to develop at least five additional restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Orange County, California.
Multi-brand franchisee Hector Haget, who is behind the location, said: “Cilantro Taco Grill is proof that if an immigrant dreams big and works hard, anything is possible.
“Temoc and I share the same immigrant journey to the US as so many others. In a world dominated by Mexican QSR giants like Taco Bell and Chipotle, it’s refreshing to be part of a brand that serves truly authentic Mexican cuisine while empowering Latino entrepreneurs to live out their own American dream.”
The new location is part of a strategic move to introduce the brand’s traditional burritos, tacos and salsas to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Through this first franchise, Cilantro Taco Grill aims to maintain authentic flavours and ingredients through a central commissary system.

By GlobalDataThe move to Texas comes less than two years after Cilantro Taco Grill began its franchising journey, with the support of franchisee development leader Fransmart.
Their partnership aims to grow the Mexican fast-casual concept to more than 1,000 units worldwide within the next decade.
In addition to the Texas franchise, Cilantro Taco Grill has plans to open six new locations this year. These include further expansions into Texas and Florida, as well as four new franchises in Illinois.
Cilantro Taco Grill founder Temoc Morfin added: “I never could have imagined that my taqueria in the Chicago suburbs would grow into a national franchise. I started Cilantro Taco Grill with a mission to set immigrants like myself up for success in business, inspired by my family’s own immigrant story.”
