Dine Brands International, the parent company of Applebee’s and IHOP restaurants, is set to open a new dual-branded restaurant concept in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

The new restaurant will open under a multi-unit development agreement with franchisee BLT Global Brands.

BLT Global Brands CEO Thomas Christopher Talarico said: “We’re excited to bring IHOP and Applebee’s to Honduras.

“The country’s vibrant culture and growing economy make it an ideal location for this dual-branded concept, offering a unique blend of comfort and quality in a lively and inviting dining atmosphere.”

Featuring both Applebee’s and IHOP dining areas, the new venue is scheduled to open on 16 September 2024.

The dual-branded concept will offer guests the choice between IHOP’s breakfast items and Applebee’s casual dining menu.

The move is part of a strategic expansion to introduce the dual-branded concept in new international markets.

With the San Pedro Sula location, the number of international dual-branded restaurants under Dine Brands will rise to 13 across seven markets: Canada, Honduras, Kuwait, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

In line with its growth strategy, Dine Brands International has secured agreements to develop at least 21 new locations, 13 of which will be dual-branded.

The new commitments include both conversions of existing restaurants and the establishment of new ones in channels such as airports and travel centres.

Dine Brands is seeking qualified master franchisees and developers to further its expansion.

The focus is on select markets in Asia, including South Korea and Japan, select markets in Europe, such as Spain, and on Brazil, Mexico and Canada.

Dine Brands Global chief development officer and International president Scott Gladstone said: “I am incredibly proud of the progress we are making to connect with and to expand to new guests around the world with the support of our franchisees.

“By leveraging IHOP’s morning popularity and Applebee’s evening appeal, we can cover all day parts and bring delicious and memorable dining experiences with world-class service to guests every day.

“So far, we have been pleased with the improved overall performance and returns of our dual-branded restaurants.”

In March 2024, Dine Brands Global first announced that it would explore the launch of dual-branded locations in the US.
