diibs, a new dining reservation app, has launched in New York City, the US, to help users secure last-minute reservations at restaurants.
The platform allows diners to bid on available tables, with the winning bid becoming their minimum spend at the restaurant.
Compared to traditional reservation systems, diibs charges no fees for restaurants to join, providing a straightforward way for venues to secure guaranteed revenue.
It also offers diners access to exclusive tables on short notice.
diibs founder and CEO Jordan Weinreb said: “We’re thrilled to bring diibs to the vibrant NYC dining scene.
“Making great spontaneous plans doesn’t have to be impossible, our app empowers diners to access last-minute, high-demand tables with ease, while giving restaurants a simple, solution to optimise coveted tables.”
Participating venues include spots such as Sip & Guzzle, Maison Close, and Rocco’s Sports & Recreation, as well as seasonal locations such as Surf Lodge (Montauk) and Commonground East (East Hampton).
The app plans to expand earlier next year to feature additional venues such as the Garret, Beefbar, and Snow Lodge (Aspen).
Users can browse available reservations, bid on tables within 72 hours of the reservation time, and have their bid amount applied as the minimum spend.
Winning bids automatically convert to confirmed bookings.
By joining the platform, restaurants benefit from free participation and guaranteed revenue for high-value tables, while diners enjoy exclusive access, convenience, and a transparent process, the company claims.
diibs is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
