
Indian restaurant group Dishoom is planning to open its first outlet in the city of Leeds, continuing its expansion in the UK.
The group partnered with property company Town Centre Securities (TCS) to submit a planning application to Leeds City Council.
TCS, which owns the property, has revealed plans to develop a Dishoom restaurant on an 8,000ft² site across two floors, formerly the Flannels unit, at 68-78 Vicar Lane between Victoria Gate and Victoria Quarter. The building is part of a 0.65-acre, mixed-use leisure development near John Lewis, the Ivy and Hugo Boss.
The Vicar Lane space, owned by TCS, will be redesigned to reflect Dishoom’s aesthetic, incorporating elements inspired by Bombay’s history.
Further details about the Leeds restaurant will be provided on the receipt of planning approval in the UK.
The development is described as a “sympathetic transformation to align with Dishoom’s distinctive design style and storytelling approach”.

TCS estates associate director Charles Newman stated: “We are thrilled at the opportunity to bring Dishoom to Leeds and be able to provide such an iconic space in the heart of the city.
“Dishoom is a brand that has redefined dining experiences in the UK, and their decision to come to Leeds – and specifically to this key location, is a strong vote of confidence in the city’s continued growth as a regional destination for food, retail and culture.”
The expansion coincides with the brand’s sales exceeding £100m ($133.07m) for the first time.
The group is also nearing the finalisation of a location in New York – its first US outlet.
In November 2023, Dishoom announced plans to open a restaurant at Battersea Power Station in South London.
The brand’s culinary influence stems from the Irani cafes in the Indian city of Mumbai.
