US-based on-demand local logistics platform DoorDash has launched Main Street Strong initiative to support restaurants in navigating the recovery phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through the initiative, the company has introduced a suite of products, programmes, and policies to support restaurants in growing their business and taking control of the customer experience by developing their own digital ordering solutions that suit their requirements.
DoorDash Storefront service enables restaurants to build their online stores, providing a turnkey solution to offer their customers on-demand access to their restaurant without investing in in-house logistics.
According to DoorDash’s estimate, 40% of its restaurant partners do not have their own e-commerce platform. The tool will help customers to order takeout or delivery directly from the restaurant’s website or app, which plugs into DoorDash’s fulfilment network to complete the delivery. As a result of the service, restaurants can control the customer experience.
The system will become available in July and DoorDash will waive set-up, software and merchant delivery fees for local restaurants in 2020.
DoorDash Weblinks is a service for restaurants, which prefer DoorDash managing their digital ordering experience. Customers are redirected to DoorDash, which offers 0% commission to restaurants with five or fewer locations on all weblink orders, both for delivery and pickup, until the end of this year.
