Global franchising company FAT Brands is set to open the second joint Fatburger and Buffalo’s Express location in Chicago’s Chatham area on 14 December 2024.
The launch is in partnership with franchisee Jackie Jackson, a well-recognised local figure who was recently honoured as Illinois’ Small Businessperson of the Year by the Small Business Administration.
The joint venue is situated at 825 E 87th St, and offers extended opening hours for customers’ convenience.
FAT Brands’ fast-casual civision chief operating officer Jake Berchtold said: “We are pleased to continue our growth throughout Illinois with an experienced small business owner like Jackie Jackson.
“There was strong demand to get a taste of Fatburger’s iconic, made-to-order burgers when we opened in Orland Park last year, and we look forward to introducing sister brand, Buffalo’s Express, to the Chatham community, providing them with award-winning wings to pair their burgers, shakes and fries with.”
The first Fatburger location opened more than seven decades ago in Los Angeles, and the chain has become well-known for its sizable, customisable grilled burgers.

By GlobalDataThe brand’s philosophy, originally conceived by founder Lovie Yancey, is that a loaded burger constitutes a complete meal.
The menu includes options such as turkeyburgers and hand-scooped milkshakes.
Buffalo’s Express serves bone-in and boneless chicken wings with a range of sauces.
Each serving is accompanied by vegetables and a choice of dressings.
In November 2024, FAT Brands opened a Pretzelmaker store in Clear Lake, Iowa, US, expanding its presence in the state, and five new Fatburger and Buffalo’s Express restaurants in Mexico City locations Reforma, Polanco, Mundo E Mall and Tepeyac.
