FDY, a franchisee of US-based restaurant operator and franchisor Bojangles’, has opened a second location in The Plaza at East Terminal between Concourses D and E at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Founded in 1982, FDY is a minority contract management company based in Charlotte.
Bojangles’ corporate communications head Brian Little said: “We’re pleased to work with FDY in bringing another Bojangles’ franchise to the airport.
“We’ve heard stories of passengers almost missing their flights to get a taste of our real deal Southern flavor, and now there’s one on both sides of the airport.
“This opening reflects our goal to bring our delicious chicken, biscuits and Legendary Iced Tea to even more people.”
The 1,300ft² location, which will employ 50 people, will feature in-store dining right from breakfast served all day through dinner.
FDY interim CEO Keith Haywood said: “We’re excited to add another Bojangles’ to Charlotte Douglas International, which is one of the busiest airports in the nation.
“Our first Bojangles’ in Concourse B has been a huge success, and we think this one will be equally well-received by airline travelers and Bojangles’ fans who love our delicious food.”
FDY launched its first Bojangles’ franchise at the Charlotte airport in 2008 and another Bojangles’ franchise in Washington, DC in 2011.
The company manages food services for three airports and one transit centre in addition to colleges and universities.
FDY also operates franchise restaurant brands such as Bojangles’, Burger King, Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina, and Red Mango Yogurt Café through its retail division.
Established in 1977 in Charlotte, Bojangles’ specialises in Southern recipes and serves a range of items, including made-from-scratch biscuit breakfast sandwiches, flavourful fixin’s (sides), hand-breaded bone-in chicken, as well as Legendary Iced Tea.
As of 30 June 2019, Bojangles’ operates a network of 763 system-wide restaurants, of which 320 are company-operated and 443 franchised.
