Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão has unveiled plans to open its first location in Providence, Rhode Island, further bolstering its footprint in the US.

The restaurant company signed a lease agreement for its outlet, which is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2023 at the Providence Place Mall.

The move supports Fogo de Chão’s continued 15% annual restaurant growth across the US.

Fogo de Chão CEO Barry McGowan said: “For nearly 45 years, Fogo has brought authentic southern Brazilian hospitality to the communities we serve, creating memorable experiences rooted in discovery for every guest.

“This announcement marks an essential step as we continue to execute on our 2023 plans for domestic growth and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce the culinary art of churrasco to the Providence community later this year.”

The new Providence restaurant location will feature the brand’s updated design and innovation platforms.

It will have social gathering spaces across Bar Fogo and a dining room to enhance the guest experience.

Additionally, guests will have the option to dine at an open-air churrasco grill.

Fogo de Chão started 2023 with 12 new domestic and international leases signed and recent openings in key markets across the US.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Brazilian steakhouse opened restaurants in California, Lynnwood, Maryland, National Harbor, Paramus, Washington and Woodland Hills, with plans to open more locations later this year.

In April 2022, Fogo de Chão entered a franchise development agreement with Honest Holding to move into the Turkish market.
