Global airline caterer gategroup has signed an exclusive agreement with Turkish-based holiday airline SunExpress to provide in-flight catering and provisioning services.
Financial terms of the contract remain undisclosed.
Under the agreement, gategroup will serve as the sole concessionaire of SunExpress’ food and beverage retail on-board programme across the airline’s complete domestic and international network. Passengers can buy food and beverage products for on-board consumption.
The contract, which has already gone into effect on 1 February this year, will see gategroup deliver the service in cooperation with business partner Sancak Inflight Service to ensure an optimal service for the airline and its passengers.
Sancak Inflight Service will provide the catering and logistics services at SunExpress’ main bases at Antalya and Izmir Airports and throughout Turkey.
SunExpress deputy managing director Ahmet Çalışkan said: “Customer satisfaction is one of the top priorities for SunExpress and in this framework, Skytrax Awards, which is known as the ‘passenger’s choice’, chose SunExpress as the world’s fourth best holiday airline in 2017.
“We have cooperated with gategroup and its experienced business partner in Turkey, Sancak Inflight Service, to offer our passengers more delicious and more diversified service by carrying customer satisfaction to a higher level.”
According to gategroup, the deal will also provide opportunities for the caterer to exploit the Turkish leisure market.
In a separate development, Chinese conglomerate HNA Group has revealed that it is in the process of floating gategroup.
Sancak Inflight Service has more than 25 years of catering experience and operates in seven international Turkish airports.
Serving over seven million passengers a year, SunExpress handles international leisure traffic and domestic flights.
