London-based coffee brand Hagen has expanded its footprint internationally with the opening of its first outlet in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The new store continues Hagen’s next-generation espresso bar concept, first introduced in December 2024 at a location in London’s Mayfair.

With intentionally limited seating, the Amsterdam outlet features a green marble counter with vintage brass fittings, designed to foster conversation and a communal atmosphere.

Hagen has equipped the site with a Kees Van Der Westen manual espresso machine and offers a variety of speciality coffees, including a single origin from its Himalayan coffee project in Nepal’s Taplejung area.

Hagen founder Tim Shroeder was quoted by World Coffee Portal: “We are super excited to be able to bring Hagen to Amsterdam, a city with a fantastic café culture, quality and craftsmanship and that loves bikes, windmills and canal tours as much as we do in Copenhagen.”

The coffee brand currently operates 17 locations across London.

The company plans a second store in Amsterdam by May 2025 and is preparing to enter a third European market before the end of the year.

Schroeder was quoted by The Caterer: “I founded Hagen to create a Danish coffee experience anchored in the premium end of the market. But in my mind it’s not enough to be premium – we have to give back to the communities we touch and do something that’s real. This somewhat uncommercial approach earned us customer loyalty and helped us to grow.”
