Brewing giant Heineken has announced a £39m investment in its UK pubs, with plans to reopen 62 previously closed establishments.
This initiative, part of the company’s Star Pubs and Bars division that operates 2,400 locations across the UK, is expected to generate more than 1,000 new jobs.
The investment will facilitate renovations at more than 600 pubs across the country, approximately a quarter of the Star chain, and will focus on 94 other outlets, primarily in suburban areas, this year.
The investment aims to adapt to the shift in work patterns, with more people working from home and the increased popularity of outdoor spaces post-pandemic.
The second largest brewer in the world, intends to expand kitchen facilities and enhance pub gardens.
The company’s strategy is to restore the number of operational outlets to pre-pandemic levels, reflecting the change in customer commuting habits to city centres.
