E-catering service provider RailRestro is planning to open food outlets at 30 locations in India.
These food outlets are expected to help people travelling by Indian railways to avail hygienic food.
The outlets will open at various locations including Vijayawada, Nagpur, Visakhapatnam, Itarsi, Bhopal, Kanpur Central, etc.
These outlets will serve food to train travellers by the end of this year.
RailRestro plans to reach out to wider offline consumers in travelling through the Indian railway network.
It also plans to add food delivery services at Visakhapatnam station, Salem Junction and Bilaspur Junction; and e-catering service at Bhusawal station, Jhansi junction, Vadodara station, Ballarshah junction.
Railrestro claimed that it is foraying into on-board catering services. This concept will enable RailRestro to cater to meal demands even in non-pantry trains.
Travellers could avail food either through IRCTC ‘Food On Track’ App or via Railrestro App.
Online orders for food would be delivered to passengers on their seat at no extra charges.
Recently, Comptroller and Auditor General called the food served under ‘Pantry Car’ model of the Indian Railways as unsafe for human consumption.
