US-based sandwich chain Jimmy John’s has opened its first Canadian location in Toronto, expanding in the country in partnership with Montreal-based Foodtastic, a franchiser of restaurant brands.
Jimmy John’s is part of Inspire Brands, alongside Arby’s, Baskin-Robbins, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin’ and Sonic.
The new location opened near Sherway Gardens at 197 North Queen St, Etobicoke.
During the grand opening event on 19 November 2024, Jimmy John’s offered the first 200 hundred in-store guests a complimentary six-inch Classic sandwich and a 16oz beverage.
Foodtastic president and CEO Peter Mammas said: “We recognise exceptional brands and products when we see — and taste — them.
“The bold flavours and diverse menu at Jimmy John’s are truly unmatched, and we’re confident they’ll keep our guests coming back for more—and bringing their friends.”

By GlobalDataThe Canadian menu has 15 sandwiches, including the Meatball Parmesan with tender meatballs garnished with marinara and melted cheeses, and the Chicken Bacon Ranch, featuring shredded chicken and bacon with ranch dressing.
Also available are Jimmy Chips, a signature item from the brand, made from real potatoes, and the Turkey Tom cheese sandwich. Guests can toast any sandwich or opt for the carb-friendly “unwich” lettuce wrap.
Inspire Brands international president and managing director Michael Haley stated: “Canada is one of the largest sandwich markets in the world, and we couldn’t ask for a better franchisee than Foodtastic.
“Canadian consumers are hungry for Jimmy John’s straightforward approach to making delicious sandwiches on their terms — a blend of quality ingredients and convenience that is second to none.”
Orders can be placed in-store, on the Jimmy John’s website, or through the newly launched app, which includes a rewards programme. Delivery is also available via Uber Eats and Skip platforms.
The brand’s expansion into Canada follows its recent international growth, with store openings in El Salvador and South Korea in 2024.
