American fast casual restaurant chain Just Salad has decided to temporarily switch to digital ordering services due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in the country.

The move involves suspending in-store dining until further notice to reduce the risk of person-to-person transmission of the virus and protect its employees and customers.

According to the company, digital ordering will also help Just Salad to meet the increase in demand for home deliveries.

Just Salad founder and CEO Nick Kenner said: “In light of recent events, and for the safety of our team members and valued customers, we have decided that the best and most efficient way to serve food right now is through pick-up and delivery orders.

“This change will support the social distancing guidelines issued by government officials and allow us to provide the highest level of service.”

As part of the decision, Just Salad’s New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia and Chicago locations will now offer only pick-up services, while delivery zones in the last three locations will be expanded.

However, its North Carolina and Florida restaurants will continue to offer in-store dining services.

The company will also ensure contactless and tamper-proof deliveries for all orders placed through the website or the app.

In addition, Just Salad offerings will be available on third-party platforms, including Grubhub and Seamless.

Founded in 2006, Just Salad employs more than 1,000 staff across its 50 locations. The company serves salads, wraps, soups and grain bowls.

In October 2019, the company partnered with Grubhub to launch a new virtual restaurant called Health Tribes.
