Greene King’s Lighthouse pub in Wallasey Village on the Wirral, England has been reopened after undergoing extensive refurbishment.

The Lighthouse pub was closed in July 2023 for renovation, aiming to give it a modernised look with major improvements both internally and externally.

The interior now features updated décor and an open-plan layout with distinct areas catering to different preferences.

It has a section for sports enthusiasts and a dedicated champagne and cocktail zone.

The garden area has also been expanded to accommodate 300 guests.

The revamp has created new jobs as the pub’s staff has increased from 34 to 40.

Lighthouse general manager Tina Tiley said: “Our team at the Lighthouse is excited to showcase our much-improved pub to the local community. We’re looking forward to welcoming both new and old customers.

“The renovation has given the pub a much-needed refresh, and we’re excited for our customers to experience the improved facilities. Whether customers are looking for a drink with friends, a meal with the family or enjoying a sporting event, there really is something for everyone.”

In June 2023, Greene King pledged to use 100% renewable electricity by joining the RE100 global initiative, in line with the company’s sustainability objectives.

As part of its journey to achieve net zero, the company aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, a target that has been independently verified by the Science Based Targets initiative.

Greene King has set an ambitious target to reach net zero emissions by 2040, with a focus on cutting its scope 2 emissions — indirect greenhouse gas emissions related to its energy purchases and usage.
