Local Kitchens, a multi-brand restaurant in the US, has teamed up with celebrity chef Alvin Cailan to introduce the Sweet Onion Burger in Northern California.

This marks Cailan’s first culinary venture in the region, with this innovative take on the Oklahoma Onion Burger.

The new burger option is now available across all 13 Local Kitchens outlets in the Bay Area and Sacramento.

Chef Cailan is known for establishing the renowned Eggslut restaurant.

The Sweet Onion Burger features Angus beef, which is seared with thinly shaved onions, then complemented with American cheese, and dill pickles, served on a toasted bun.

Cailan’s twist on the regional classic includes savoury sauces such as bacon jam and the signature SOB sauce.

Cailan said: “Being a part of a company that envisions the future of food as I do feels auspicious. I’ve spent over 15 years perfecting my craft, but I’ve never brought this burger style to market.

“Many are now trying, but few are doing it right. I’m so glad I found the perfect partner in Local Kitchens to bring this vision to life.”

Since its inception in 2020, Local Kitchens has established a presence in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, with plans to extend its footprint to Los Angeles by early 2025.

Local Kitchens CEO Jon Goldsmith said: “At Local Kitchens, our vision is to break down borders by connecting communities with flavours and stories from around the world.

“Alvin Cailan’s Sweet Onion Burger celebrates an Oklahoma tradition, and we’re thrilled to bring this exceptional brand to our guests across Northern California.”

Last month, The Bay Club Company teamed up with Local Kitchens to enhance its members’ dining experience by introducing a variety of chef-crafted menus.
