American pizza chain Marco’s Pizza has announced the opening of its first franchised location in Mexico.

Located in the Polanco neighbourhood, the 1,700ft² store features a walk-up pick-up window.

Marco’s Pizza chief development officer Gerardo Flores said: “The launch of our first location in Mexico represents a pivotal step in our international growth strategy.

“This milestone not only demonstrates our commitment to expanding our global footprint but also sets the stage for further international development.

“We are confident in our ability to replicate this success in new markets around the world, bringing our unique pizza experience to an ever-growing customer base.”

The launch is part of the company’s larger strategy to develop 50 units in Mexico City and the State of Mexico up to 2033.

Marco’s is experimenting with scooter deliveries alongside third-party delivery services to boost efficiency.

The chain currently operates 60 locations in the Bahamas and Puerto Rico under a master franchisee for the Caribbean.

The company anticipates maintaining strong growth in the US and is now focusing on international expansion, starting with immediate opportunities in the LATAM [Latin American] region.

It also aims to expand into the Middle East, Europe and Canada.
